Dining Room Update

Sadly I don't think I can convince my hubby to let me buy the bar cart I have been dreaming about until after the holidays.  I decided to make my own little bar cart for now with some items I had laying around the house.

The Sedgewick ~ ahhhh me want so bad!

China cabinet full of random things

Close up shot of random things
Tea pot - drug this out for William & Kate's wedding
Gold candles from Christmas two years ago
Buddha and more Christmas candles from last year

Time to drag out all this stuff and start from scratch

Ahhh much better
I removed a glass shelf and starting pulling some items in to create the mini bar cart

I added back in the silver serving tray, cocktail shaker and decorative plate

Added some old friends to the party

Not to shabby!  I am pretty happy with how my mini bar cart turned out.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with the shelf about it.
Any ideas?

The Big Reveal

As I mentioned in this post, our laundry room received a little TLC over the weekend and we couldn't be more happy with the results.  Saturday bright and early Randy our wallpaper man arrived and got to work transforming our little space.  We chose the Julian pattern by Thibaut for our little makeover.

Laundry room before

Laundry room after!

We are soooooooo happy with the results.  The beautiful blue in the paper against the crisp white cabinets really gives the room the clean pop we were hoping for.  Randy completed this transformation in under four hours.

To give the room more function we added a shelf over the machines for storage and mounted a bead board drying rack on the wall from Ballard Designs to hang laundry to air dry.

Again before, so sad

After!!!

It's silly but a little sparkle in our laundry room makes it not so dull to do a load of whites now.

Oh Deer!

I have made it very well know for my love of antlers and my screaming inner voice to hang animal busts all over my house.  My hubby on the other hand would probably wish for that inner voice to be silenced.

Yesterday I was cruising through the Z Gallerie site and notice some antler bling that made my heart skip a beat.  Hopefully if hubby is reading this he could tell Santa clause these are on my wish list.

omg i love this!

my favorite!

Does anyone else want Santa to bring them bling antlers like me?

Homegoods Binging

Over the long holiday weekend I found myself at Homegoods twice, yes twice!!! Saturday I dropped hubby off for a haircut and oops, parked close to the neighborhood Homegoods and just had to peek in and take a look.  The store was slammed with people crowding each aisle, carts bumping into you but it didn't stop this hungry shopper for uncovering some deals.  I knew I only had a limited time as hubby would be coming soon to look for for me after his haircut.

First deal I found was a matching pair of basket weave candle sconces for only $9.99 a piece.  I have been looking for something like this for our master bathroom.  Score!

Second deal I found were these beautiful golden leaf candles for only $4.99 for the sconces above.

Third deal was a large Montebello Jar that I plan on putting on my dining room table for only $24.99.  About a year ago I purchased the same glass jar at Z Gallerie for $69.99, ouch!

Shopping cart was loaded up and I was in line to pay when ring ring, hubby was on the phone
looking for me in the store... *&^%!  Luckily I danced my way through the items that I "needed"
and he agreed they would be nice additions to our home, phew :)

Above is a picture of our master bathroom.  Time to get to hanging those wall sconces near
the hand towel to add the perfect finishing touch the room needs to feel complete.

Ahhhh perfect!

I love the after photos above except for the Montebello jar I overpaid for.

Check me out in the tub in my sock monkey snowflake pajamas, hot!

I must admit lately I have been loving me some Homegoods.  Can't wait to share some additional things I purchased from them and share with you this week.

Bargain Hunting Updates

Remember when I went to the Junior League of Durham and Orange counties bargain sale kickoff a few weeks ago, post here,  and picked this puppy up for only $2.00?  Well, I finally am getting around to hanging her up in our front entryway.

I picked the empty wall over the fake red flowers.  Yes, I know you aren't suppose to have fake flowers in your home past the 1988 potpourri explosion but I don't care.

Just my luck when I went to hang her up she didn't come with any hardware.
Luckily the sawtooth hanger kit was only $1.00 at Target.

To quote Rick Perry, "oops"!
I nailed the sawtooth hanger in a little crooked, oh well.

Ta da and straight as an arrow!
For a $3.00 investment I am really happy with overall look of the nook.

Sneak Preview

As I mentioned in my post from yesterday, tomorrow morning we will be having some delicious Thibaut wallpaper installed in our laundry room.  Since I was off today from work I picked up some last minute accessories to make the room complete.  Here is a little sneak preview.

The room is so sad, I know.

Can't wait to show you the big reveal in a few days!

Holiday

Our proudest salute to all the veterans who defend our country and ensure we can continue to live with the freedom to innovation and create. Proud to be an American today thinking of all my veteran friends and loved ones, and all others. We owe a huge debt of gratitude since our military protects not only us but also other countries in need of democracy. It's a big job to protect half the world.

Since I am lucky enough to work for a bank we are closed to observe the holiday.  I will spend my day stimulating the economy and doing this dance in my pink fuzzy bathrobe.

Laundry Room Upgrade

I have a secret to share... I love wallpaper!  I know, I know wallpaper reminds you of your grandparents dining room but I must confess I am in love.  In our last home we had a little bit of courage and had some installed in our downstairs bathroom.  Who knows if the new owners have ripped it down by now but it made me oh so happy.

With our new home I have debated back and forth with wallpapering every corner but hubby always bring me down to planet earth.  So, my compromise.. the laundry room!

Our 2nd floor laundry room is tiny so a little paper on the walls can't offend a buyer too much, right?  I scoured the Internet, wallpaper stores etc for just the right pattern and finally decided on Julian by Thibaut.  Thibaut in my opinion is the go to source for all wall coverings as the designs are timeless and elegant.

Below is a picture of a room done in the chocolate version of the Julian pattern to give you an idea of what the laundry room will transform into.

My second choice was the Henson pattern below.

Installation is happening this coming Saturday morning so fun pictures to come.  Hubby can do a lot of things around the house but I draw the line at hanging wallpaper.  So, to save the marriage we hired a great local guy.

Keep you posted with the install this weekend.
